New Delhi, Conergy AG, a leading international supplier and producer of renewable energy solutions, announced today its own charity project for electrification in rural India. Using funds raised at the next Conergy Renewable Energy Golf Cup Tournament on 3 November, Conergy will supply and install eco – solar lighting solutions for 350 people in Garh, a village in Alwar district of Rajasthan, India. Garh will be officially nominated the Conergy Renewable Energy Village.
The Conergy Group has been present in India since 2005, where it has supplied and installed more than 10, 000 off-grid systems, solar energy in 250 remote villages located in Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. Currently, there are 80,000 villages in India without electricity – 25, 000 are beyond the reach of any public network. Garh is one of the most away from these people, who have no direct access to mobile services or health services. It is surrounded by desert land and has a minimum forest cover, with most of its population earn their living through agriculture. While this remote territory is expensive and technologically challenging for power supplied through a public network outside the network systems of renewable energy, alternative energy such as solar home and lighting components are affordable street and effective in this problem, while the environment.
"With the half life of indigenous people in remote villages of the network, energy source is the most economical and technologically viable solution for their electrification needs, "Jan Hartzel, Director of Corporate Marketing said. "Through our subsidiary SunTechnics, we have improved the quality of life of over 100, 000 people by providing 250 villages with solar energy environment. We hope to reaffirm our commitment to sustainable development opportunities for remote indigenous communities, while preserving the environment through support our business activities.
Of the 600,000 remote villages in India, 13% lack electricity. India has huge energy needs, with an energy demand of 70, 000 megawatts has not yet been fulfilled. Referring to these demands, Raveendra KS Kamat, director of Conergy India said that "the India potential renewable energy projects far exceeds current capacity. Of the 118 current 500 megawatts of power produced in India, only 6% comes renewable sources. This equates to 7 100 MW, and is targeted to reach 10, 000 megawatts in 2012. "
Participants in the charity golf tournament also will have their chance to play a role in realizing this vision. To date, 110 players have confirmed their attendance, including business leaders and politicians. Each player will pay a participation fee, which will go towards funding the project Garh.
