The energy generated by water flows is called the "hydropower. How exactly this water flowing will help us create power?

This principle has been used by man throughout history. Was used in ancient times, grains such as corn mill. In 1878, Cragside House in England was the first house to be illuminated by this process.

In 1882, hydropower is used to power two mills paper and a residential building. Hydropower plants harness, first placing a dam to store water in a reservoir. Water is released as to regulate flows into the pipe, which turns a turbine. The turbine drives a generator, which in turn produces electricity.

Storage plants use a system of two reservoirs so. To pump water from the river, which is stored in a tank top when not in use. The water is released later to produce electricity when needed. This is a cheap way to produce electricity. The higher the dam, the greater the amount of energy that can be produced. The reason for this is the fact that the gravitational potential energy of water is greater at a higher level. When it flows down the turbines, which produces a high pressure, resulting in a high force level. Thus, countries with mountainous regions, such as New Zealand and Switzerland, get enough energy from its hydroelectric plants to supply the Half of the countries' energy needs.

Hoover Dam on the Colorado River used to supply most of its energy needs Las Vegas. But as the years passed in Las Vegas has grown, and the outputs of the plants have become insufficient – the point at which the city had to find other sources power. We do not see as many hydroelectric power plants in all we could, as it can be expensive to build. But one advantage it has over other sources is that the water they need to function, is free. Also, do not produce any waste or pollution, which can be harmful to the environment. Water flow source is a much more consistent and reliable solar energy and wind energy. In general, it can produce energy continuously. Since this type of plant does not require fossil fuel to operate, produces no harmful carbon dioxide emissions.

Some might argue that greenhouse gases occur during construction. But in the long term, this becomes meaningless. The emissions that would occur by conventional power plants, with the to produce the same amount of electricity in the long run, are much higher. The reservoirs that are created for hydroelectric power production provide another source income for their area. They become tourist attractions, and can even be used as water sports facilities. Dams in some areas for action as flood control mechanisms as well.
