solar electric garden fence
Has anyone used solar fencing to keep deer from a garden?
If so, how does it work? Is it safe for cats and birds? What is the voltage and type, etc. were overrun by deer last year, and if we can find a way to deter them, we are losing time and $ $ trying to have a home garden. We currently have a fence 4-5 feet tall, with an extension cable 2 to 4 feet taller, but the deer only go between the wall and cables! The garden area is large enough, but too far from the house electricity. We wonder if solar fence work, but do not want to endanger our cats or birds that help w / garden pests. Any help is appreciated.
An electric fence will not harm the birds, since no based and can put the cable high enough off the ground for cats can go under, but low enough to deter deer. The shock is very mild, Electric fences work great and are much more humane than Barb wire.
