Sleepzone Group, with three large properties in the city of Galway, Connemara and The Burren, has announced plans for substantial investment in environmental Connemara hostel overlooking Killary fjord near the village of Leenane. More of € 100k is being invested in solar panels and biomass fuels for Sleepzone Connemara, following an environmental audit by Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI), last year. JMK renewable energy systems have been contracted to install more 30 solar panels on Sleepzone Connemara, along with the infrastructure which will enable the use of biomass fuels, and work is currently underway.

SEI has financed the project through a grant under its â € ~ Reheat € ™ program that provides assistance for the deployment of renewable heating. The bulk of the funding is being provided through a combination of companyA ™ € s resources own bank loans. Initial guidance recommended by SEI efficient compact fluorescent lighting in Sleepzone Connemara, which undertook the hostel immediately, reducing their energy costs by 35PC. Other recommendations for water conservation will be addressed during the second phase of the ongoing implementation of Sleepzoneâ € ™ s environmental policy. Electricity, for both villages as well as for the center of Galway city property â € "Sleepzone Galway â €" is now generated by wind, supplied by Airtricity.

Sleepzone Director Ronan Garvey acknowledges that the investment environmental knowledge systems is expensive, but says that â € œwith the threat of recession that we are aware that, understandably, energy saving long-term costs of this project are considerable. However, as two of our three properties are located in areas that are recognized worldwide for its scenic qualities, We are also very conscious of our environment responsibilitiesâ €.
